“LA BATALLA POR LA DIGNIDAD”

Every year on May 5, Mexico City celebrates Cinco de Mayo with parades, historical reenactments, and cultural events commemorating the Battle of Puebla in 1862. 

Though the victory over the French army was a regional milestone, it became a symbol of national pride and resistance.

In the capital, the festivities feature military parades, where participants dress as soldiers from both sides, and battle reenactments that bring history to life. Traditional music, such as mariachi and banda, fills the streets, while weapons are also decorated and shots fired in the air. Schools and local groups organize performances to educate younger generations about the battle’s significance.
